Kitten Rescue Australia was established in 2016 by Mona, an independent rescuer and passionate advocate for animal justice. Having lived abroad since the age of 18, Mona returned to Australia in 2015 and was deeply moved by the significant population of street cats in need. Recognising the urgency of the situation, she initially began by feeding numerous colonies. As her commitment grew, Mona expanded her efforts to include comprehensive medical care for these animals, eventually bringing them into her own home until suitable, forever-loving homes could be found. This is how Kitten Rescue Australia was born.
Since its inception, Kitten Rescue Australia, has successfully rescued and rehomed hundreds of cats and kittens. Remaining steadfast in the mission to effect positive change, advocating for stricter animal cruelty laws and striving to introduce initiatives such as nationwide pet medicare, free desexing and vaccination programs, aiming to create a more compassionate and responsible society for the welfare of animals.
We are committed to the rescue and provision of medical attention, shelter, and nourishment for cats and kittens that have been abandoned, abused, or injured. Operated by a sole rescuer, the organisation ensures that all rescued felines are kept in her home or placed with trusted foster caregivers until suitable, permanent, and loving homes can be secured for them.
